| With their waters and their sandstone slabs, the Monti della Laga offer, between spring and summer, especially striking sights. On all sides of the massif there are plenty of waterfalls, gorges and foaming streams that, between May and July, sketch a different Laga, spectacular and surprising. The most evocative and best-known stream, however, is found at the foot of the peaks of Gorzano and Laghetta, in the area of Cesacastina. Here, facing a perfect view of Gran Sasso stretching from Monte San Franco to Camicia, the Acero gully drops, very rich in water, through the pastures - the path climbs a bit steep, always keeping just a few dozen metres from the stream,. Big sandstone boulders, falls and little falls, and the many centuries-old beeches offer everywhere a superb show. |
| This hike takes us to the highest summit of the Gran Sasso and of the whole Apennine range, along the three-thousand-metre ridge, following the easiest route. In optimal conditions, the itinerary is within reach of any good hiker; however, solid high-mountain experience and full equipment are required. From an environmental point of view it feels like being in the Alps, and of course the view can be called exceptional, with the eye reaching as far as the Adriatic Sea |
S. Vito, or rather “Vena di Sant’Angelo”, is the highest and largest rock structure in the Piceno area. Although located in Abruzzo, it has always been frequented by climbers from Ascoli. The wall is up to 200 m high and is made up of several rock bands. The routes are very varied: the first ones, opened with pitons and very spaced protection, have now "disappeared" or, if good, have been re-equipped with bolts. The bolting of the routes is not uniform; it depends a lot on who equipped them: some have close protection, others a bit spaced. In any case it is an "adventure terrain", so if you don't know the line and don't want to take risks you should bring a few nuts or friends.
